At Sophia Community College, we have given the open lectures, whose title is ``Mathematics starting from experiments''.
In this lectures, we have provided the Knoppix/Math environments for students, and given the lectures by using computers practically.
In this talk, we will explain our trial, namely, preparation to open the lectures, a part of contents, problems to develop such lectures, and so on.
Moreover, we will mention about other trials to give lectures at normal courses by using Knoppix/Math environment.

We can count about 200 to 400 titles of mathematical journals published in Japan and the total number of articles in them are about 60000 to 70000. Unfortunately, because most of their bibliographic information are lost, we cannot know the full picture of the publications.
On the other hand, most major journals have their electronic edition in digital repositories.
In this talk the research results from Math. Reviews database and virtual digital mathematics library as a portal of their electronic edition will be reported.

GeoGebra, developed by project coordinator Markus Hohenwarter, is a free and dynamic mathematics software that joins geometry (figure, automated theorem proving), algebra (defining equation of figure) and calculus (differential and integral calculus, graph of function). GeoGebra has an intuitive interface and allows users to modify figures with mouse, and also to modify their defining equations. It should be remarked that a modification of a figure with mouse automatically causes a corresponding modification of its defining equation, and it is also the case in the other direction.
The development of GeoGebra is very active, and many new features are continuously implemented. Its interface is translated into about 40 languages including Japanese. In this talk, I, who is a Japanese translator, will talk about (i) what is translated and what is not, (ii) the secret by which many translators can easily contribute, and (iii) problems in translation into Japanese.

A method for producing a dynamic lecture video from high resolution video recorded by an HDV camcorder is described. In this method, the high resolution video is cropped to focus on the region of interest, such as the instructor. Because this method uses virtual camerawork modeled on broadcast camera techniques, the generated video is very similar to professional broadcast video. Moreover, by focusing the viewer's attention on the chalkboard, the generated video is useful for students. We evaluated our method with subjective experiments and confirmed its effectiveness.
